Middle Caicos

When we arrived at Blue Horizon Resort, we were welcomed by Susan who took us to our "Sunset" cottage, which was the perfect place. The colors of the room were so gorgeous, you had everything you needed, from pots & pans, spices, microwave, stove & water. I would recommend stopping at the local IGA while in Provo and bring groceries over on the ferry because the resort has only one restaurant on site. You can drive to other places in North or head to Daniel's Cafe down the road from the resort. We cooked breakfast every morning, one because the two restaurants in Middle Caicos didn't serve breakfast, two it's something we never get to do at home & three it saved some money. A few things off of our grocery list that I would recommend to get, fresh fruit, drinks, snacks (chips, pretzels), we also got pancake mix, bacon, bagels, bread and jelly.
Mudjin Harbor and Dragon Cay are right on the resort and are absolutely breathtaking. I wish these photos captured more of the depth & detail of these natural beauties. Star-gazing was unbelievable on a place like this because there is no light pollution at all. I can't tell you the last time I looked up in the night sky to view the stars. We got comfortable on a bench and just were amazed by the amount of stars.
Bambara Beach is about a 15 minute drive from the resort. It's a hidden gem, that has the most calm waters and you can walk all the way out to a small little island in the distance. You would take the main road & there is a sign on the left, that says, "Bambara Bay" and you take that down for about a 1/2 mile, park your vehicle, & stay awhile.
Middle Caicos, what more can I say that the photos aren't?! This place is special, the population is only 300, so this says a lot about it. Everyone knows everyone & by far the most friendly people you will ever come across. Before we even got to our destination, we did go on quite a journey. In order to get to Middle Caicos, you land in Provo then take a 20 minute taxi ride to the ferry dock, hop on the 30-40 minute ferry ride, land in North Caicos, get a taxi or car (we rented a jeep) then drive about 45 minutes to Middle Caicos to find the blue top roofs of Blue Horizon Resort. Yes, it is a journey to get to the destination, but make some fun out of it, enjoy the people & scenes along the way! Once you arrive on this resort, you're truly in your own world, surrounded by beauty & forget about how long it really took to get there. Leave technology off, enjoy the surroundings & eat some local caught fish. Remember that "island time" is true relaxation, I have to remind myself that on the first couple days. Don't be in a rush, don't worry about the time, just go with the flow. If you don't get to see everything or do everything, that's just another reason to go back! When we went to Providenciales 3 years ago, I didn't think we could find a place more beautiful, until we came to Middle Caicos. We definitely will be back.
